Our story
The artist who THINKS LIKE A STUDIO.
Studio Roo is Riley Johnson. A one-artist studio with a full studio's range, working across murals, branding, and illustration for the brands and communities that would rather be remembered than blend in.

It started with a pencil
In 2020, Riley opened ROO Creations and drew portraits one face at a time. The work grew, the roster of artists grew, and clients kept asking for more. Could he brand their company. Could he paint their wall. Could he make the thing people stop and stare at.
Studio Roo is the answer to all of it. An art-forward branding and mural studio built on one idea: big ideas deserve bold visuals. From a blank wall to a wordmark, no two projects leave the same.
Made by hand
Pencil first, always
Every piece begins the way it always has, by hand. A concept sketch before a single pixel, then paint, then Photoshop and Illustrator to carry it the rest of the way.
It is slower than a template, and that is the whole point. Work made by hand keeps a fingerprint that stock design never carries. You can feel the difference on the wall and on the page.
The studio
One artist, studio range
Riley works in the space between the lone freelancer and the faceless agency. Small enough that you talk to the person making the work. Deliberate enough to run like a studio, with a process, a point of view, and a standard that does not bend.
Ambitious brands have trusted that standard with real stakes, from the Impact Catalyst Midwest summit identity to murals that anchor a whole downtown. Hire Studio Roo and you get the artist and the studio in one.
What we believe
Four things we do not budge on
-
Bold over safe
Timid work gets scrolled past. We make the piece that earns a second look.
-
Story over decoration
A mark, a mural, a color. Each one should say something before you read a word.
-
Craft over shortcuts
Drawn, painted, and built by hand. The long way is the reason it lasts.
-
Community over clout
The best work leaves a place better than it found it, and gives people a reason to gather.
Every great mural starts with a blank wall.
