I Am Creative

A freestanding statement wall in the public square, built around a message anyone can claim.

The finished I Am Creative mural, a freestanding panel wall in a public square with bold white letters over neon graffiti and a painted street pole at its center

The brief

I AM CREATIVE, in big white letters over layer after layer of neon spray, drips, and half-buried tags. At the center of the piece stands a painted street pole where Creative Ln crosses Innovation Way, hung with a CRE8 sign and a traffic light whose lenses burst with paint. The message is the hashtag of World Creativity and Innovation Week, and the mural gives it a place to stand in Oxford, Ohio, in the open square where people actually walk.

The piece started as a digital illustration, sketched on a tablet and refined on screen before any paint moved. From there Studio Roo scaled it up by hand onto freestanding panels, keeping the loose graffiti energy of the concept while the lettering stayed crisp enough to read across the square. Because the wall stands on its own instead of hanging on a building, the mural meets people at eye level, close enough to find the small details buried in the spray.

Process

From tablet sketch to town square

Riley Johnson sketching the mural design on a tablet at a diner booth
Sketching the concept
The finished digital illustration of the mural glowing on a screen in a dark room
The digital design, ready to scale up
The signs on the pole say it plainly. Creative Ln, one way. Innovation Way, the other.
